Telcred's solution for physical access control
Telcred's products can be integrated with traditional PACS (Physical Access Control Systems) and electric locking solutions from most leading vendors. An NFC phone or smart card is used instead of a physical key,
and time limited access rights are sent to the device over the air or over the Internet. After receiving the appropriate access rights, the user can open the door by simply swiping the device in front of the reader.
A video demo of Telcred's solution can be found here.
The main components of Telcred's PACS solution are:
- Backend system. Used for creating and managing user accounts, defining access rights, assigning access rights to users and sending access rights to the users' devices.
The Telcred backend system is accessed either directly through a web interface or alternatively, if the customer already has an existing PACS, it can be integrated with Telcred's backend to avoid duplication of user maintenance.
- NFC devices. These store access rights and communicate them to the NFC reader at the time of access. Telcred supports three different types of NFC devices: mobile phones, USB-dongles and smart cards. An NFC phone
can be provisioned with new access rights over the air, while USB-dongles and smart cards get new access rights via an Internet connected computer.
- NFC reader. The reader communicates with the NFC device at the time of access and sends the access rights on to the lock controller. The reader can have a PIN-pad for increased security.
- Lock controller. This unit receives the access rights from the NFC reader and verifies them. If the access rights are verified as legitimate
and the user has the right to open this specific door, the lock controller will instruct the lock to open. The lock controller is typically connected to the lock by means of electrical wiring.
